Mess Maps
Mess maps are a systems snapshot of a complex situation. Mess maps clarify the system you are facing: the players, their roles, their relationships, their responsibilities, their resources and the absence of same. With a mess map the wicked problem you are facing becomes understandable and begins to make sense. Such understanding is a precondition of successful action. Mess maps facilitate group discussion and learning in ways that printed reports cannot begin to do. We work with our colleague Robert Horn, the inventor of mess mapping and a Foresight Canada Fellow.

Information Murals
Information murals capture the many dimensions of complex situations over time. They show the development and evolution of that which interests you – an organization, an industry, an issue – over whatever period of time you choose. Information murals enable you to identify and work with the truly critical issues that hide in the history of a situation or organization. Information murals also facilitate group discussion and learning in ways that printed reports cannot begin to do. We work with our colleague Robert Horn, the inventor of information murals and a Foresight Canada Fellow.
See Pathways 2050 for a sample of an effective information mural.
